ummahani kid's villas @ leisure farm - my work at unit one
this was my first proper job given to me when i joined unit one. i won't elaborate much on each design intentions and elements (nanti panjang sangat plak karangan ni). so here it is...briefly : they resized the size of the villas due to some rebudgeting exercise and i hopped in since then. back then, looking at the design i knew it will turn out to be nice but being involved for quite some times made it look not very much special until recently i got the chance to visit it before handing over. proudly to say, i was involved pretty much in these villas back then and one of my works (peribahasa melayu : bekas tangan) is the 'ala-herzog de meuron' screen where it gradually opens up from fully shut position. i'm quite surprised though that the screens turn out to be working pretty well at some of the junctions. there are more pictures of these wonderful villas and i'm yet to edit it so for the time being please enjoy these. fyi - these photos were shot using my current office's camera that is so cap ayam. i've tried my best to get general shots of these villas in order for me to be able to manipulate it later on. i'd like to put those trademarking thingy on these photos but thinking about it, i better reserve it for person who deserved it better : Mr. John Ding and Mr. Ken Wong. i only worked out their vision into this built form. how i miss working in design firm. stylo doh!

makan makan tahunan sp setia
my first annual dinner with sp setia, my new workplace. they gave me a room at traders hotel and it turned into a make up room for few of my colleagues. i laid low for that nite with lira since it's my first annual dinner with them, so not much (not at all actualy) photo of us together but instead photos of my room. great view of klcc and surroundings, and i was eager to capture the night view from my room. somehow i've been disappointed by rain with drops at my window. i'd never dream of a chance to stay in a room at such hotel if i'm not working in this company. oh, my long silence - busy restructuring new life back in jb and i'm getting a new pc and maybe a good camera for myself so do expect new updates in near future. adios!

siem reap concert hall
one of few buildings worth crediting in siem reap, just next by two doors from our hotel. while shooting this building (after spending about 10 mins at the building external compound), suddenly a guard appeared from inside the building, signalling by hands and i quickly understood that he did not allow the building to be photographed. followed, a voice came from behind and when i turned, an aged white man with long hair and well dressed approached me quickly, backed with few of his local bodyguards. from the look, i think he's the owner of that concert hall. he started to interrogate me with stern voice; asking me where i came from and for whom i'm photographing for. he did take a glance at my camera as if he's ready to grab it (it's not mine!) and in an instant, i felt nervous because it was my first time to be in a foreign country, furthermore a poor country only recently in peace from war. funny, at the same time i found it's kinda cool, like in the movies where the photographers were approached violently for doing their works in countries under turmoil. for fuck's sake it is just a concert hall, not a high level security national agency building and i was proud to answer that man with full confidence, "this photos are for my personal usage, and i am an architect from malaysia". the rest, here i am, back in malaysia with all these photos, published for your viewing pleasure and importantly, ase's camera is still with me.

terrace of the elephants

it's like a plaza normally found in europe but much more greener, considering the climate (have a comparison with our pride of nation - the countless paved plazas / squares found here in malaysia esp. putrajaya). for the least, our decision makers should have known despite their stupidity for power and money, pavers dont help in absorbing the heat. it's true that a wide, clear flat land creates a different setting for a space, but this one doesnt glare my eyes. shade? just have a look at the trees. a few would do.
this place once held celebral ceremonies, i guess mostly to the audience of the khmer royal. at one side is an elevated stoneworks that became the royal's seating place and on the other side, separated by the plaza / field, is a series of typical towers, 12 to be exact called baphuon.
oh, and i'm yet to publish a combined images that shows how the whole plaza looks like.

this was once a university. one element in here that really captures my attention is the series of openings/portals that were laid in an axis thus creates a view that is so interesting one would wonder what's lying next beyond each portal.
somehow, thinking about it as once a university, i wonder where are the rooms to hold the classes. there's a building (last photo) that speaks a different/odd language from the rest of angkor's temples/buildings. any angkor temples/buildings were built from geometrical stone cut-outs with perpendicular angles but this one was built on circular columns and topped with a pediment, similar with architecture from the roman empire.

this is where tomb raider was filmed. they even nicknamed one of the tree as 'tomb raider tree'. words just cant describe the awe upon seeing this temple. it shows us that even the most impressive achievements of humans are dwarfed by nature’s relentlessness. however much we may conquer and subdue the earth, it persists in conquering and subduing us back.
